In writing, there is no such thing as a quick fix.

Writing a book is an art precisely BECAUSE there is no shortcut. It requires blood, sweat, and tears.

And it often takes just as long to revise as it did to write the novel in the first place (sometimes even longer).

Don't be afraid of the work. Be in it for the love of the craft. Take breaks. Take a breath.

In traditional publishing, rejection is NOT about you.

It's simply about whether your book makes sense from a business perspective.

When I worked at Penguin Random House, I saw great manuscripts get passed on — not because they weren’t worthy, but because they didn’t fit an imprint's list or the sales team didn’t see the vision.

And guess what? Often, those books found a better home elsewhere.

Try your best to reframe rejection: every no gets you closer to the right yes.
