Ukraine sanctions successful children program “Masha and the Bear”.

Last month, Netflix acquired the rights to two more seasons and extended licensing agreements for existing seasons and spin-offs.

This was too much for 50 UK MPs and a red line for Ukraine. Netflix must not show that little girl, tumbling through life with a retired circus bear.

Netflix claims that it is the world’s most popular children’s shows, with one episode, ‘Recipe for Disaster’, having been viewed more than 4.6 billion times on YouTube.

Because of this success, Ukraine decreed that “Masha and the Bear disseminates a pro-Russian narrative under the guise of children’s content, which poses a threat to the national security of Ukraine.”
