@HyperTechInvest Dude. She is right you are wrong. SRAM is just another type of logic. It's manufactured in a regular fab. By TSMC bot Micron / SK etc.
@treasureh8nter@DreadyBear Not at all. They should pick the best one for the need. I'm sure that's what they did. Same for the screws holding the enclosure of the switch in place. Both the little embedded CPU and the screws are irrelevant commodities. And not a big news.
@treasureh8nter@DreadyBear Dude. No one cares about those peanuts. The collaboration is on serious stuff. Not on a small embedded processor inside a switch. Even discussing it between the companies is a waste of time and money.
Dude it's peanuts. Maybe Intel had something comparable that cost 10 dollars more per unit. Maybe Intel had something that has 3 more watts plod power consumption. Engineering trade offs. But again - it's not going to move any needle. Not for nvidia, not for AMD, not for intel. Just engineering trade offs between commodity components.
Dude you are over complicating. No one really gives a shit about some small general purpose embedded processor, inside a system which is inside a system which is inside a system which is inside a system. It's much less than 1 / 1000 of the total cost of this rack. So the engineers just picked something that seem reasonable.
It's probably few hundred dollars per unit, when buying in high quantity. No one really cares. It's not a strategic decision. The engineers of this products saw what's available, and decided. Price, spec, power, performance, etc. like picking this screw or that screw for the enclosure of the server bracket.
