🕊️ It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear colleague, Professor Lorna McLean.
🕯️ In this difficult time, our thoughts are with her family and all those who have been touched by her kindness and positive influence. May her soul rest in peace.
Tell @JNJNews their attempts to evergreen the patent on the life-saving tuberculosis drug bedaquiline is unjust and a violation of their corporate credo: https://t.co/6LJZ39ltVj
And then tell the world that Johnson & Johnson is denying MILLIONS access to life-saving TB treatment.
So, Doug Ford has successfully destroyed publicly-funded healthcare & now wants to move on to the next destruction project - the Ontario Science Center? Well, this is what people get when they don't bother to vote.
Doug Ford, destroying Ontario one project at a time. #onpoli
And yes, mandatory disclaimer for “don’t believe everything you read on the internet”, but I tend to believe this is true because it would just be a classic uOttawa move. Very on brand 🙃
As a member of @uOttawa’s #MentalHealth and Wellness Committee I have spent hours in meetings over the last few years hearing about how the university wants to improve communication and transparency.. this feels like a slap in the face.
We just found out that all of @uOttawa's Academic GPS unit (a first-line academic support unit for students) is being laid off, along with most of the writing centre.
Such an odd, frustrating choice by the university when so many students are arriving less equipped for success!
Even if I give the university the benefit of the doubt and naïvely believe something better is coming to replace GPS, staff and students were just starting to getting used to the change from SASS to GPS. Talk about whiplash.

Happy Friday and good morning to the incredible CUPE education workers fighting back against the Ontario government's cruel & mean-spirited attacks.
As you begin your strike today, remember: Today & everyday, the people of Ontario stand with you. ✊🏾

New grad students should also look at how many students stay with their supervisor for their entire program and graduate instead of the number of students a supervisor has at one time.
For folks looking for a supervisor, look at their recent publications.
Some profs never allow their students to be primary authors of publications and need to be an author on everything the student writes. I have yet to hear a story where this isn't a red flag 🚩🚩🚩
^ This is true in education especially (less so in physical sciences). A good supervisor wants you to succeed and sometimes that means putting your success over their own.

Dis/abled? Lose the slash.
Dis-abled? Lose the dash.
DisAbled? Lose the capital “A.”
There’s nothing wrong with “Disabled.”
Say the word.
Use the word.
Lose the euphemisms.
