This is the narrative she’s desperately trying to push!
Nicola Sturgeon isn’t being criticised because she was Peter Murrell’s wife. She’s being criticised because she was Leader of the SNP while he was CEO. Leadership comes with responsibility for governance, financial oversight and organisational culture.
When concerns about the party’s finances were raised by two women, they say they were shut down and bullied rather than listened to. Instead of ensuring those concerns were properly investigated, Nicola Sturgeon publicly praised those attacking them. A competent leader would have de-escalated the situation and taken the allegations seriously.
She now says she didn’t know. But as leader she was warned that concerns existed. Whether she knew of any criminality or not, she still had a duty to ensure those concerns were properly examined.
That’s why people are questioning her leadership. Not because of who she was married to.
I don’t understand why so many high level SNP members MP/MSPs shut this down so quickly. I think there’s a rule that a percentage of their salaries goes straight back into the party. It’s literally their money being squandered. Why would they be so against proper governance? What would they gain from that? It’s cult mentality.
@ChrisMusson@FacundoSavala He learned from the best when it comes to being nasty to journalists. His predecessor was worse.
I can’t help but feel she’s still pulling the strings behind the scenes. Her “legacy” must be protected at all costs. No matter how ridiculous it makes the party look.
Fiona, do you believe the two women who raised concerns about the party’s finances were treated fairly?
Yes or no?
If you do, explain why. If you don’t, do you think John Swinney should apologise to them?
Nobody is beyond criticism. If you think calling out a political leader’s conduct is “bullying”, does that standard apply to every politician, or only Nicola Sturgeon?
It’s not that when she’s talking about her ex and his height or lack of it!
Everything we’ve been hearing about Nicola over the last few weeks and her inability to accept any form of criticism has been exactly what we’ve witnessed on Gill’s social media for years.
Says a lot about our how they were brought up.
@AMonty1917@MrsBr0wn_82 I keep saying this as well. No man knows the brand, coverage or shade of makeup his wife uses. It’s not something you can guess.
The problem with this defence is that it keeps reducing Nicola Sturgeon to “the wife.”
She wasn’t just the wife.
She was SNP leader throughout this period while Peter Murrell ran the party. Leadership brings responsibility.
If she knew, that’s one question. If she didn’t know, that’s another equally serious question about oversight and governance.
@Fyrishsunset@loonshire1@heraldscotland So why wasn’t she brought back in for questioning? The fact she was happy to answer some questions in a written statement and not others is a bit of a red flag. Sounds very much like she was being protected…
This morning, I appeared on Good Morning Britain in a live interview about the grooming gangs. Before I went on air, I was told not to mention the race of the perpetrators. I, of course, didn’t listen.
I have now received an apology from the editor.
My interview is below: 👇🏻
I actually think it was agreed at the end of the season we wouldn’t stand in his way if he found another club. Cavenaugh wouldn’t want to sack his 2nd manager in less than a year, especially when there was already some interest from German teams and the chance for compensation. It made sense to publicly back him.
In the end everyone’s happy and we pocket £2m.
Alex, with all due respect to you, ‘not perfect’ is nonsense.
He was a disaster, the team looked lost and he spent £40m making that squad ‘terrible’. He caused huge issues in the dressing room, he threw the team under the bus instantly and the tactics’ consisted of the team facing almost regularly 30 shots on goal a game. Russell has a unique claim on being the worst manager Rangers have ever had. Danny Rohl instantly made those players and that team better and got them into a title race. Martin couldn’t even get them organised.
So let’s be truthful. No axe to grind with Russell, I actually wish him all the best, but the dangers surrounding his style and management is very really and dismissing Rangers as ‘not perfect’ is disingenuous nonsense
