Indie game creators keep studying UE/Unity programming day in and day out. They draw countless pieces of art, compose music, write scenarios, and go through endless trial and error with the UI, all while managing social media every single day just for marketing. That’s why they work non-stop through weekends. They study law, copyright, and foreign languages, all while breaking down their own health and relationships.

Even when told, "Less than 10% of indie games ever get finished," they tell themselves, "I will be the one to finish it." Even when told, "There's no guarantee your game will sell," they tell themselves, "I will be the one to make it." Today, they are still making lists of media outlets, influencers, and showcases.

If you are a part-time creator, do you think you’re safe because you won’t lose your day job if your game fails to sell? The reality is, if you work part-time, you have almost no time left for game development. And even if you do manage to carve out time, it’s only because you are sacrificing your sleep. It’s hell.

If you are a full-time creator, what happens if your game fails to sell? You lose your entire income. There is no unemployment insurance. You won’t be able to pay back the money you borrowed from the bank. It’s hell.

But if you look at that reality, you won’t be able to create anything. Your hands will just freeze.

And when they are on the verge of breaking down, there is no labor union to turn to—so they turn to the community. They talk to the community about everything. There are no NDAs inside the community. Or rather, maybe you could call it a No Distance Alliance.

And yet, everyone still gets anxious. Everyone is on the verge of breaking down. You have to blind yourself to reality with your own madness.

Yes, it’s not just games—the entire creative world is a Squid Game.
