My re-election bid will serve as a reminder that the fight for justice, equity, and progress is a constant struggle. The road ahead will require perseverance, persistence, passion, and drive. Now is the time for leaders to lead. You heard it here first, I’m just getting started.
I am deeply disappointed to see the Republican NCGA push legislation that limits election officials’ from ‘promoting voter turnout’, pushes partisan hires over qualified professionals, and more.
Republicans know that when voter turnout is high, they lose.
The elections bill has one major reversal: It would give NCSBE Executive Director Sam Hayes the ability to replace 25 staffers with like-minded political appointees. After bill was introduced last yr, it dropped from 25 to 5. Now, it's back to 25, representing 38% of department.
Spent some time with North Carolina’s (sort of) new election bill. It includes ~40 policy changes that range from the innocuous to the important.

Today makes 4 years since we lost our son, Zachari. We have made some strides forward and have been stalled/held back by grief in so many other ways. In our house on June 6th, it’s Zachari Remembrance Day.

"Right To Work" for less laws make it illegal for employers to run their businesses as they desire if they want to enter into closed shop arrangements with their workers. This increases costs and decreases efficiencies in the workplace. These laws punish small and medium sized businesses in favor of allowing large corporations to exploit local workforces. #ncpol #1u @NCStateAFLCIO@AFLCIO
