After celebrating midsummer in my local town, I am once again reminded of the importance of stopping mass immigration and securing a future for my people.
We can not relax until this is achieved, stay strong buddy and keep fighting! 💪🏻
Today is Midsummer’s Eve in Sweden, a major holiday and one of the longest days of the year. We celebrate by dancing around a maypole and singing traditional songs with flower wreaths in our hair. Happy Midsummer!
I'm thinking about sewing a Kven traditional dress. On the one hand, I'm thinking of jumping into the lake in the evening, as at every celebration. When I jump into the first lake, the others start jumping too — that's the most fun part
Did you know that in Finland we light a bonfire on Midsummer Eve (today!) to celebrate Midsummer, bring good luck and keep away evil spirits? 🔥
I wish you a magical Midsummer filled with light, nature and great memories… maybe even a few spells 🥰💗
Give the Swedes their due on Midsummer today.
The maypole is not Viking. It came from Germany in the late Middle Ages, long after the Viking Age. But the Swedes made it their own: flower crowns, a herring table, schnapps and song, and a frog dance everyone swears is just for the kids. Today it is their biggest day after Christmas.
What ties it to the old North is the reason for the day. The Norse calendar followed the sun, and the return of the light meant everything to people who had survived the dark. The Swedes kept that instinct and built an institution around it.
Glad midsommar to our neighbors. Norway lights its bonfires a few days from now 🇸🇪🇳🇴
