I came across this study that shows how tracking your steps with an app or wearable trackers can influence an individual to walk more and engage in physical activity. I'm currently using an app that tracks my own steps too, called StepsApp! #HSBH2009 https://t.co/dR2ZnROjgL
Wk 11 #HSBH2009: The topic for this week focused on mHealth, which differs from eHealth as it specifically uses mobile technology to produce better health outcomes, as opposed to using technology to improve overall health which is known as eHealth.
Wk 9 #HSBH2009: This week's topic was about VR & how it can improve educational experiences in health, with exercise being the main area where it's making a huge impact! However, it's important to note that VR is a supplement for real world training & does not replace it.
Wk 8 #HSBH2009: The topic for this week was on gaming and how it can be beneficial for one's health. I have learnt that games can have positive effects on psychological well being (through satisfaction and competence) and social well being (through connecting with others).
@Mosam_p17 I agree, a balance is essential. Sometimes rapidly withdrawing from social media can make individuals feel disconnected, while being constantly on social media can make individuals too dependent and reliant on it. Having that balance is always the better option! #HSBH2009
Wk7 #HSBH2009: This week's lecture + tutorial focused on social media. The statement “individuals should engage in social media detox to make them feel better” was debated in the tut, and I agree, as less time is spent online, and more time is spent outdoors. What do you think?
@Mosam_p17 Checking social media (regardless of location) can be detrimental to ones self-esteem as celebrities/friends are constantly posting the best parts of their lives online and hiding the boring & relatable parts. Social media isn’t always a true representation of reality #HSBH2009.
Wk6 #HSBH2009: This weeks lecture discussed electronic health data. The tut activity went further in identifying what organisations have info about individuals & the type of info they have. Uni's like USYD have HSC results data & financial info which is used for enrolement & HECS!
WK:3 Like most things, telehealth has its pros and cons. Pros being that it helps rural areas and is time and cost convenient, however it relies solely on internet and limits assessments of patient compared to physical check ups #HSBH2009
@Mosam_p17 Telehealth is indeed important for patients in rural areas. I found a study that discusses the patient and clinicians perspective on using telehealth to help those who have depression in rural communities, and it mentions the pros & cons of telehealth!

Wk4 #HSBH2009:This week's lecture discussed online communication and the online disinhibition effect. When I was researching for further information, I came across an interesting study on the impact of loneliness on the dimensions of online disinhibition!https://t.co/k9nxciMrH6
Wk 3 #HSBH2009: I was very surprised with what I heard in the lecture videos this week about telehealth!
I assumed that telehealth came about due to COVID-19, however, it has been an option for a while as medicare had it available under the medicare benefits schedule since 2011!
Wk 2 #HSBH2009: Although society is taking agency in their own health by searching online about health issues, online info can lead to self-diagnosis & inaccuracy. Health websites must support those with lower health literacy, so there is easier navigation to reliable info.
