@MrsHumanities @ed_podesta I've really struggled this year (my NQT year) and I loved teaching last year and got an outstanding. I feel like all my energy has gone and I'm not certain I want to stay in teaching... I've been teaching a lot outside of my specialism though. Feel like I am doing a rubbish job.
@TheLastLeg#isitok Theresa May sounds like Lord Voldemort with her croaky voice? Expecting the Dark Lord to be on the back of her head and reveal his Brexit plans...
@MissSFoster_ I feel your pain ๐ซ. I'm an NQT and have had a few shockers this week too! You've got this. Keep trying new strategies and asking for help when needed.
@HollyWi70824435@LTUPGCEHistory Thunk questions are quite nice and they usually enjoy it. Should come up if you Google the little book of thunks. Daft questions like 'is a window still a window if it's painted black?'
@S_Skinner_ No worries. I meant to get a box so they could actually unlock something and have something else inside it, but I haven't managed to do that yet ๐. We're making a History magazine at the moment, but need to recruit more members. Have you found any other games?
@Dagenham_ian @apf102 Thanks for the advice ๐. I did this with my form that has some real characters in and they did great still, so I'd definitely recommend it. The visual of the shield wall weakening definitely stuck with them.
@apf102 I used @Dagenham_ian roleplay with Year 7s this week. We reenacted the Battle of Hastings. They loved it, learnt a lot and had some fab follow up discussions ๐. Although one class did get a little too excited!
@apf102 Maybe I should try this to manage behaviour in my English classes... Think I've cracked it and then they're terrible again. I'm running out of ideas.
@yamyamlen Ah, well they get to shout and jeer so may enjoy it. They're still all sat down though so not total chaos. You need leaders of communist and nazi party too who have to be in charge of their party, so might work nicely if you have some strong characters. Depends on the class...
I'm teaching a poetry lesson for Year 9 tomorrow and want to show them a video of a poetry reading that will get them excited about it. Does anyone have any recommendations? @Team_English1#TeamEnglish
