Dismayed to hear that Certificates of Immunity have been issued for the buildings of the UMIST campus - @SAVEBrit @modernistsoc - bad on heritage grounds and bad on environmental grounds
NEWS // C20 is seeking a new home for a space-age classroom, inspired by the iconic Stirling Prize winning Lord's Media Centre.
Designed by Future Systems in 2004, the Ingenium Pod at Grey Court School in Richmond-upon-Thames was once heralded as the most futuristic classroom in Britain, but now faces demolition as the school have outgrown the structure. The Society is issuing an urgent call-out for any interested parties who may be able to relocate and reuse the 100sqm pod.
Sports hub? Ice-cream parlour? Park cafe? Or how about a Serpentine Pavilion based on reuse for a change? There's opportunity a-plenty, but potential new owners will need to move quickly - the structure must be removed by the end of the school term.

Someone needs to actually dare to say it: the reason we have immigration is that it is a good and desirable thing; the reason we offer people asylum is that this is the right thing to do.
@yesitizess Not surprised this came from Sonia Sodha. Like Simon Jenkins, as far as I can tell she appears to be employed by the Guardian as a provocateur/contrarian/right-wing troll (see also her preoccupation with/stance on trans issues … ).
Don't forget your photo ID when going to vote, folks!! Even expired ID will be acceptable if it looks like you. Here are the details from https://t.co/Gbrzf9TqAS:

@yesitizess @JoeyFrances On the council - but that’s very localised and a lot of it mobilised around protest votes against local development as I understand it. As Steve says, an extremely Tory (and an extremely Brexit-voting) area.
This is what Labour leaders in Manchester pursued for 20 yrs + it’s caused a massive housing crisis + persistent inequality + unsustainable built environment
Don’t copy the ‘Manchester Model’ remake our cities based on co-operative / community wealth not corporate profit
@bathedailey Ahhh me too! All those years of slogging up and down the A6 on a bike never sure if that was a real place/brave enough to have a closer look! Glad you checked it out.
