While I do believe fear of crime has increased due to the media, I do not think it is accurate to say that crime has decreased just by looking at FBI statistics. It is much more nuanced than that. Thanks for reading!

One thing that is puzzling is the discrepancy for robbery statistics between NIBRS and the NCVS. NIBRS shows a huge decrease while NCVS shows an increase over the past 5 years plus an increase in reporting 🤔. Does anyone know what is going on?
