@EvanPaul05 There is no verse that says explicitly that. There are tons of verses that refer to out nature ad hating God, being spiritually dead, and that God would need to give us a new heart, rebirth us.
@CherylSchatz Ever heard of the potter and the clay?
One he formed to show his mercy, another he formed to show his wrath.
It seems the world has a problem with a sovereign Holy God that is worthy to rule his creation however he pleases.
@yoyoprojon@DaveZ90212457@rootcausesleuth How exactly is God all knowing?
We believe it's because he's sovereign and decrees all things.
He knows himself and what he will do, so he knows the future.
@yoyoprojon@rootcausesleuth No he can't
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. James 1:17
“God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent... James 23:19, NKJV
@dvermont@TheStaad Maybe your parish teaches the true gospel. But the councils have repeatedly declared anathema upon those who claim there is salvation by faith alone, apart from works.
@MitchMi68122792@MethodMinistry You focus too much on "limited atonement."
We are not saying his atonement is insufficient to pay for the whole world's sins. We are saying that the benefits of his death get applied only to those for whom he died, the elect, those who place their faith in him.
@thewaronbeauty@uav_guy_79 All of the sacrifices and signs in the Old Testament are shadows, Christ is the substance.
Hebrews says the sacrifices could not forgive sin. They only prefigured the perfect sacrifice of Christ, and Christ's atonement was applied to them through faith.
@JesusDied4UToo@teaminney 1 John 2:19
Those who are of the faith continue in the faith.
Also, the Bible uses faith and belief in many aspects. It differentiates between dead and alive faith and belief.
They outright rejected "the faith" aka the orthodox teachings taught by the Apostles.
@JesusDied4UToo@teaminney 1)We would never choose God in the first place
2)If we could lose our salvation, we absolutely would. Every single one of us. There is none who possess the righteousness necessary to choose the good, God almighty, in our unreborn state.
@JesusDied4UToo@teaminney The Holy Spirit given to is God's earnest payment, guaranteeing that he will bring us to completion. Once he begins a good thing, he finishes it.
Of course, if it's dependent on us, then we could certainly lose our salvation. But I would posit two things
@JesusDied4UToo@teaminney What do you do with all the passages say that we are chosen before the foundation of the world? Elected? Predestined? By the will of God? That our natural state we have the same inclination as the devil, were haters of God. We dont seek his face. We dont want him in our thinking
