Stolen last night in Shropshire, cut padlock off and had a Wheelock device on steering wheel. Dad's old workhorse which he loved and is gutted, if anyone hears or sees anything it could be anywhere by now. Thanks #theft#ruralcrime
Today is my 10 year anniversary working at @ShropFarmVets. Where has all that time gone? Fantastic place to work, surrounded by great clients working hard to rear healthy, productive stock. Can’t beat Shropshire in the sunshine 😀 Here’s to another 20 years!
@erandod @kelly_ann_14@JamesSFVets @mprvmnts Like most herd animals (including people), cattle can be wary with individuals they don’t know and friendly with those that they do. This is normal behaviour. Farmers care deeply about and for their animals, to not do so would be counter productive
@kelly_ann_14 @erandod Hello back, nice to have a grown up reasoned discussion. High animal welfare is anything but BS. Eating meat/dairy doesn’t mean that you don’t believe animals should be reared with care and respect
@kelly_ann_14@JamesSFVets @mprvmnts @erandod Have you every been on a farm? High animal welfare is critical to animal agriculture, since healthy animals are most productive. Meat and dairy is nutrient dense and should be consumed as part of a balanced diet. It is also a key component in food self sufficiency.
@kelly_ann_14 @mprvmnts @JamesSFVets @erandod Grassland isn’t unlimited, but we currently have a lot of it. 70% of farmland in the UK can’t be used to grow crops on, so it is used to graze animals. Cows do produce methane, however this has an atmospheric lifespan of about 10yrs. UK ruminant numbers have fallen in this time
.@BBCTheOneShow why did you use images of a feedlot when asking viewers to vote in your #onechangeforourplanet poll tonight? Not representative of the beef we consume or produce in the UK. It’s misleading. Stop it.
Fair play to @Schwarzenegger … he does articulate this very well.
A healthy society is built upon many communities of expertise, where we all should have some basic levels of trust in each other to do the jobs we do.
Colin Brazier: 'Hundreds of thousands of predominantly young people like my daughter – who think they’re helping the planet - may actually be causing it harm.'
With all this rain and a flush of grass @NateSFV has been busy treating cows with grass staggers today. Prompt treatment is essential to avoid sudden death. Supplementary magnesium can be given via feed or water.
