many educators mistake difference for incorrectness, and that misunderstanding ends up hurting kids academically. It highlights how deeply language bias connects to racial bias. For me that’s not right and to think this might still happen to this day.
the idea that the standard dialect didn’t become “correct” because it was better , it became standard because powerful groups used it. That really flips the whole “sloppy grammar” idea on its head. Isn’t that crazy!
its so amazing how quick people can judge someone’s intelligence based purely on grammar. The author of myth 12 states that “bad grammar” is perfectly structure. Just not standard
Hey guys , for second - language acquisition, i found this website that I think it’s simple and helpful. I think its very important to know this concept because it helps to further understand other people who are learning a new language or even yourself .

There are so many theories on how children grasp language and I loved connecting them to my major and be bake to realize that behind every session there is science
I think it’s cool every child is different and that there is no exact process on how children learn a language , I do still think they are literal sponges walking around grasping every little detail
I think children are extremely intelligent and creative . I think it’s so fascinating how children were able to continue sign language with only the basic alphabet sign
I really hope to touch on things about how code switching involves culture identity not just language . Its very interesting how a person can code switch literally to a whole new person and i see that within myself alot when i have to translate or speak the “other” language.
I think its very important for others to undertand that being bilingual is not just about language and knwking different words but its a dofferent way of seeing the world . Its two worlds combined to one person
Hey, but I do kind Of agree with the fact that elementary schools are becoming more tech based which yes it’s good but there are a lot of 4th, 5th graders with terrible hand writing.
I found it really interesting how we react to “ki ki” as something spiked or sharp and “bo bo” as something round . But there is no certainty that words have that sound and that it will truly mean “sharp or round” #fa25e211o2
For Myth 6 , I reflected on how women “tend to be more talkative”. When thinking about myself, I think that I am not as talkative in formal settings - I tend to be talkative in table talk , small groups, etc. I found interesting this myth. #fa25e211o2
@suttok3 I agree with you. I think that parents fear the brain rot language, but i also think not every slang is bad. I think journalism has its own style of writing and its beautiful in its own way. #fa25e211o2
