“We must stop the terror. I call upon all nations to do everything they can to stop these terrorist killers. Thank you.... Now, watch this drive.”
— George W. Bush, 2002.
Most people don’t realize how real this is.
Since before most of us were born, an unbroken chain of submarines “on alert” have silently patrolled the oceans, ready to annihilate any civilization who tries to destroy ours.
Our final, existential, and morbid insurance policy.
When Odysseus went into Agamemnon’s office with Nestor, he said to the latter wringing his hands: “I have blood on my hands”.
Agamemnon later said to Nestor: “Never bring that cretin in here again, he didn’t sack Troy, I did. That kind of weepiness makes me sick”.
What we'll do to Venezuela has plenty of moral justification, but at the end of the day, it's really quite simple.
We've decided to take absolute control over our hemisphere. We've made that decision because—amid the last several decades of overreaching in an attempt to police the world—countries from outside our hemisphere have collected influence in these territories. And we rightly find that to be intolerable.
Russia made the same decision in Ukraine but you're starting to see the difference between the US exerting power and anyone else.
When the US even feigns the use of force, the victim starts scrambling. They'll do anything to escape what promises to be a horrifying but quick demise.
When Russia uses force, they spend 4 years in a knock-out, drag-out brawl with their much smaller neighbor.
China is too smart to find themselves in a position like Russia's, but I promise you they'd look more like Russia than the US.
A lot of people on this app have proclaimed the death of American Empire. But as long as that dichotomy holds true, the American Empire will exist. It can change directives, but it's still here.
And there is only one. Russia rejects and resents this out of pride, swearing that they can take influence over Ukraine.
And yet... here we are. Not that far off 4 years of interminable bloodshed and their best case scenario is carving off a piece of territory while the rest of the country falls permanently into the influence of others.
An outcome that Russia finds unconscionable. Hence all of the... dancing around in negotiations.
Essentially?
> be some bored shitposter
> write a kino monologue that overturns the message of the biggest film in history
> the monologue, which isn't actually in the film, has a bigger fanbase and cultural impact than the film itself
> refuse to explain further
