Roberto De Zerbi, talking to Sky Sports...
"Everyone has to give something more. Then, from 7pm on Sunday, we can organise and make a plan for the next season, considering everything. I am not stupid and I have a very clear [vision] on what we have to do.
"It has been a tough experience because I didn't know before my time. To manage a lot of situations without knowing what happened before me, it is not so easy.
"I am happy and I am proud because I create an important relationship with players, people inside the club and fans. They do not deserve to stay in this place in the table.
"We need to stay focused on the next game. I am happy because David Moyes said he wanted to help West Ham. For us, that is a big motivation. Premier League is the best league because every game, you have to fight even if you want just one point.
"I am sure Leeds will play the right game [vs West Ham], like they did against us in our stadium.
"I want to win the game, I don't want anything from other people. We are ready to go on the pitch, to fight and to play."

"The main triggers that seem to upset the tendon come from intensive sessions, when the athlete is repeatedly performing high intensity accels and decels (>2.5 m/s2). Obviously, we cannot prevent players from performing these movements, but we do have some voice in what they are allowed to do within the session"

"Post-match running that targets high speed running and sprint distance creates resilience and robustness. Some counter that this approach may be reckless and can create a high injury risk to the player. However, there is always a risk for a player to get injured if we spend too much time focusing on purely "preventive" interventions rather than pushing physical boundaries."

"The first stage of designing a preseason is deciding on your periodization approach and how you will implement your microcycle during preseason. This will set the terms for physically pushing players to their boundaries and ensuring they have adequate recovery to adapt to the load and intensity."

Excited to share my latest article for @SportsmithHQ , where I dive into my experiences working with youth athletes! The U16s to U18s age group is such a crucial stage in their development, with so many physical, mental, and emotional changes happening. It’s a time where every detail matters when designing a training program. Check it out for insights into optimizing training for this pivotal phase!
@injuryexpert@DHMov @JasonAvedesian Good question, could it be that the ACL is stressed and unable to tolerate the eccentric forces? Why is it stressed? Increase in load previous weeks, poor eccentric strength/ lmovement and SL strength, very hard to pinpoint the cause
@talkSPORT Distance & high speed running has increased significantly in matches since Ray was a player and the increased amount of games played. It’s got nothing to do about how tough you are
Really happy to be joining @afcbournemouth as Lead academy sport scientist (U18s), looking forward to starting the season with Cat 2 status for the academy #AFCB 🍒⚽️
