Week 1 - Iron Man
This movie still holds up great! Such a fun start to the MCU. Made the bold move of having Tony say “I am Iron Man” and throwing out secret identities. Villain is alright though “IN A CAVE WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS!” is iconic 😂
8/10
Up next: The Incredible Hulk
John Stamos: “I need you to put a video out of just the facts. Don’t make jokes about it, don’t bullshit about it, show video of [Trump], show real facts, show gas prices, take pictures of gas stations if you have to, go in grocery stores if you have to, but make it so undeniably true. Don’t fuck around with jokes, no opinion about it, so I can show my sister and the Republicans in my family and friends. The far-right is not gonna watch you or listen to you or Kimmel or Seth or these podcasters or these great guys, David Pakman’s one of my favorites, they’re not getting to the people that need to see this”
Fun fact: It's NOT possible for the earth to be flat because if it was, capitalism would have exploited it by now. The “ends of the earth” would be tourist destinations with theme parks and hotels and a damn swing set that would let you swing over the edge.
Its funny how everyone's idea of heaven is a complete untouched paradise, crystal clear waters, lush green forests, enough food for everyone, classless, moneyless, stateless, a Utopia of peace, unity andhappiness. But here on earth it's considered a leftist ideology.
This is fascinating to me, because beyond the surface level it illuminates why conservatives are often so full of shit.
The baseline here is that there's a heatwave, and Mamdani asked New Yorkers to adjust their thermostats to help the grid. This is regular practice in red and blue areas of the country. Daniel posts a defiant "I'm not gonna do what mommy tells me!" style post. He surely thinks he's a very clever boy here.
Now if the message is "This is a free country, and I love my AC, and by god it's my house and no government bureaucrat can force me to change", then fine. Sure. But there is no law being proposed here. No police are bursting down your door demanding to check your thermostat. It's a request from a community leader, a polite ask that you engage in a very small pro-social sacrifice.
You would think conservatives would understand the idea that local communities should pull together in times of need. For the 'common good', perhaps. You'd think. And that they'd be happy if no government force was involved, if they could act merely because they had strong moral character and believed in private charitable action.
"Nobody should ever ask anyone to sacrifice for the common good, even if it's just a polite request" is just dipshit nihilism.
But I suspect Daniel doesn't actually believe in those conservative ideas. Or if he does, they're a distant second to the true guiding star of conservative thought: owning the libs. Given the chance to help people or own the libs, conservatives will always own the libs. Given the chance to demonstrate strong principles or own the libs, they'll always abandon the principle to own the libs. The actual philosophy of the right is merely "We hate the left". And it's sad.
It is fucking crazy how right-wing this country has become in the last 15 years. The Democrats have to run the most reasonable normie to ever live so they can win a swing district by 3 points against a wife-beating Christian Nationalist who got rich scamming nursing home residents and thinks black people look like that because Satan left them in the stove too long
@DustinCanFly@G27Status I will say, all 4 of these games were on sale digitally a month ago for basically the same price or lower than what’s shown for physical on Amazon currently. Physical sales do tend to be more ongoing/the norm though, vs digital where the sales always stick to a firm end date.
Clarence Thomas used 27,477 words to try to rationalize how 28 words in the 14th Amendment don’t actually mean exactly what they say.
That’s a thousand words of legal quibbling for every one word of constitutional text.
@hard8_times The digital version was $30 a month ago. Digital sales are often cheaper than physical. The main difference is physical sales tend to last longer or sometimes become an ongoing price, where digital sales still adhere to hard end dates
"The Supreme Court will, for a generation, always serve as a veto of any and all progressive legislation. So even if Democrats achieve the herculean feat of winning the House, Senate and White House, and actually passing legislation, the Supreme Court will always strike it down. So we have to decide if we want to just win symbolic victories, if we want to just get caught trying, or if we actually want to make permanent, meaningful change. If it’s the latter, then inherently, that requires us to reform and expand the Court."

@clevercolt64@longislandviper Colin has been extremely critical of Sony for that purchase and mismanagement of the studio since they acquired them. You are absolutely correct, Sony is also a villain in the current state of games, but Colin never supported buying Bungie or how things have played out since.
11 stars for the Confederate states instead of 13 stars for the original colonies is a detail most Americans won’t notice because of our public school system.
Being anti-AI in a world where AI is literally everywhere is getting quite exhausting. No I don’t want to read your AI book, no I don’t want to see your AI poster, no I don’t want to see an AI photo of you with your dead grandad, GET AWAY FROM ME I AM LOSING MY MINDDDDD
