@JAHeale Bit of a humiliation for Matthew Patrick going from being the junior minister at the Northern Ireland Office to becoming a DCMS PPS…
Not sure many could stomach such a demotion.
@SimonCatRiley The whole “Jon is very right wing” narrative perpetuated by the media and commentariat has always appeared to me as very superficial.
I don’t think anyone who actually listens to what he says, could reasonably come to the view that he is some hard right TUV-style figure.
@NewsLetter_Pols It’s fine that Doug no longer wanted to stay in the party, but an individual trying to sabotage the party from the sidelines, they once led is just poor and tasteless.
@AlexKane221b It’ll be interesting to see if Burrows decides to go for them. He seems much more comfortable trading blows with Nationalists, Alliance etc. While largely pulling punches when it comes to the DUP.
@MatthewOToole2 Disappointing to see supposed reasonable politicians trying to perpetuate a narrative that it’s the fault of “the brits” or unionists. Casement has been a textbook story of incompetence by both the GAA and the civil service, coupled with planning failures.
@nifootballnut@JP_Biz I think that Welsh income tax receipts have grown faster than those in England, allowing them to actually benefit from increased revenue, despite having the same rates.
An example of fiscal devolution working well.
@RabbidTheNabb1t@Schlungoid Why should ILR be an inalienable right? There’s plenty of other countries that never seek to permanently settle their migrant populations.
@DannyDonnelly1 An exception for murder or attempted murder, but not conspiracy to murder… 🤦♂️
Just admit it was half-baked and dangerous, it should have gone through a proper departmental policy development process, before it should go anywhere near the assembly floor or the statute book.
@Cheesewright3 Yesterday, he absolutely showed up the superficial quality of so much of the contribution from MLAs.
I don’t want to see the PoC constantly used, but where MLAs were about to nod through a consequential change without much if any thought about its ramifications, it was necessary.
@BaronoftheMaine@naomi_long It’s not surprising that there is no response from the Minister on this. Kellie is absolutely bang to rights, she displayed a level of patronising that simply wouldn’t be accepted were the gender roles reversed.
The sneering nasty party is back on full form.
@PippaP22 Let alone verify what age they are. Plenty of young adults being admitted after claiming they are teenagers.
The whole system needs a top-to-bottom reform, it isn’t the 1950s anymore…
