I got the opportunity to attend a beginning teachers Religious education PD on Storytelling, last Friday.
By experiencing first hand the 4 sections of a lesson as the ‘student’, I definitely feel more confident in delivering a meaningful storytelling lesson. #acuedu_p
In year 6 we used Straws and Tape to teach Prisms and Pyramids. This is a great activity to teach the properties of 3D objects (vertices, sides, faces) and identifying the front, side and top views of 3D objects.

Just received some PD today on how to assess student’s reading using Fountas and Pinnell running records.
Feeling a lot more confident with determining the most appropriate reading goals for my students.

Schools with positive team culture have people who root for others' success. They view themselves as a team not competitors. An individual success is the team's success. Next week look to Celebrate team!
For staff development day we looked at the +/-/x/÷ content areas of the new K-10 Mathematics Syllabus.
Mapping the mathematical content and vocabulary expected to be taught we were able to see the progression of concepts. Assisting our programming of Maths Fluency #acuedu_p
The amount of growth I’ve seen from my students in just a single term, makes me extremely excited to see what the new school term will entail!
In this upcoming term I will make sure to commend my students more on their efforts and progress.

Effective teachers don't focus so much on rules, but more on relationships, routines, & expectations. If you focus mainly on rules, you will spend most of the year enforcing what not to do. But if you focus on the rest, then your focus is on what to do.
An interesting concept that I shall implement in the new school term to ensure conversation/contribution equity. #acuedu_p
Although I make the conscious decision to make sure everyone is contributing to classroom discussions , some voices may go unheard.
The last few weeks of EDFX452 have really emphasised that importance of not just teaching but also the admin, rubric making and programming side (keeping up with annotations/constant edit/compliance) of Primary Education. #acuedu_p
During a walk, I saw this amazing Year 5 Maths wall. I love the clear Learning Goals and concise Success Criteria. Each criteria is a sequential step in solving the problem, and the language is so student-friendly! Now planning to implement something similar in Year 3. #ACUedu_p
“If you have a question, someone else probably has it too”
Signalling to teachers for help may often leave students embarrassed. To combat this, I count down from 5 and have students put up a motion with their hands to their chest. Letting me know what to re explain #acuedu_p
