Bohemian Waxwing is among the most beautiful passerine birds in the world.
Waxwings only visit the UK in the winter, spending their breeding season in the boreal forest belt that stretches from Scandinavia, through Russia and across parts of North America.

Wildlife rescuers of Kannur-based Malabar Awareness and Rescue Centre for Wildlife are thrilled over the spotting of the rare Griffon vulture, which they had rescued and released into the wild, inside Sahyadri Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra, located over 800km away.

Udhagamandalam: An eight-day wildlife census (pre-monsoon) commenced in the buffer zone of Mudumalai Tiger Reserve in the Nilgiris on Thursday. The census would cover prey base and vegetation, besides carnivores and other animals, in Singara, Sigur and North East Slope ranges.

ElephantRescue : A female elephant calf that was stuck in a pool of mud at #Karnataka's #BandipurTigerReserve, was #rescued. Seeing the animal in distress, #forest officials roped in a #JCB machine which can be seen pushing the #elephant gently to help make it stand on its feet.

This chestnut-coloured tree-dwelling mammal with pointed ears and bushy tail is the state #animal of #Sikkim and can be found on the coat of arms of the Sikkim Forest Department.They can be found in the deciduous broad leaf and coniferous forests of the eastern Himalayan.
BirldLife International estimates that 12 percent of known 9,865 species are now considered threatened, with 192 species or 2 percent, facing an “extremely high risk” of extinction in the wild. Habitat loss and degradation have caused most of the bird declines.
