@emilyharpist Welcome to the 2A community! Ik you're used to these reddit retards who have zero social skills.
It's disappointing to see people act this way everywhere, even when you're just trying to learn /:
Please don't get discouraged.
I'm seeing this guy catch some flak over this post, but I would like to say that while this runs counter to prevailing practices:
One, he's making an honest assessment of his risk and his skill/comfort level. He believes that there is a greater chance that he could have an AD/ND than having to carry a hot gun. Weren't we just laughing at the guy who shot his balls off last week? I think honest situational and self-evaluation is an important consideration when carrying a gun. And we all do it. It's why you aren't open carrying your AR to the grocery store or regular carrying a P320. You assess the risk of the situation against your skill level (or at least you should be) every time you carry. You won't catch me carrying an empty chamber in New Orleans, Louisiana but I don't know what this dude's situation is, I'll take it at face value.
Two, as I have mentioned before, when I first started carrying a Glock when I was 21, I carried empty chamber. I was not new to guns by any means (I mean I had an FFL) but I was new to concealed carry. That was part of the learning experience for me and when I realized it could be done safely, I felt ok carrying a hot/no-safety gun after getting used to carrying empty at the time I was probably at the greatest risk of an ND. Some gun is better than no gun and if you won't carry a loaded gun, I guess this beats that.
Three, Billy J Badass "who is the most tactical" internet dick measuring contest is cringe. I think it's perfectly fine to engage in a conversation about best practices, but using this tweet to dunk on someone who is less familiar with guns than you are, or as an opportunity to remind all of your followers how low drag you are is also embarrassing. Especially when you're a YouTuber or a social media personality. Don't let your follower count get to your head.
