People in poor places face a nutrition gap that disadvantages them. TNEP gifts small-flock egg farms that give direct access to world-class nutrition... eggs!
@ron_willett Sorry for such a late reply.... not so confident about Social Media as I am chickens ;-) They are all Commercial Strain Leghorns... or as maybe our parents would have said, Legerns.
What do you do if you’re @NativeEgg and your incubator quits working in Haiti? Go shopping for parts and hire the repairman of course. $13 later back in business.
Meet Julienne & Rosienne. School sells eggs, gets money. Julienne hires Rosienne to sell eggs for her. Two people got employed. Same thing played out with 3 other groups. Amazing! Students get to eat eggs. Families get eggs. Jobs are made. Just 4 wks after beta trip. Crazy!
Kim Possible (you’d just have to know her) holds the $35,000 “Beta Trip” first egg (•◡•) Luckily by day two, happy hens got us down to about $6,000 per egg... and after 10 year system life, and 250,000+ eggs, they’ll thankfully cost much, much less. Whew! Awesome stuff.
A GrubCone™ is a patent pending BSFL (black soldier fly larvae) composting device that @UrbanCoops has been developing. The “grubs” are 40%+ protein, high fat and nutrient dense. Used as a livestock feed intensifier. A big part of @NativeEgg concept. Seriously cuts feed costs.
Matt Hugo and his wife Angela are truly “irrational givers”. And then he went on the trip and served too. #pymwymi (put your money where your mouth is) Irrational Giving (c) Matt Hugo & Fam. He owned the GrubCone assembly.
Girl Power! Amy aka “ami” (Friend in French) not only was on the amazing @UrbanCoops carpentry team that built everything we took to Haiti, but then she took the trip and WOW’d everyone with her carpentry gifts... AND HER AWESOME LOCS TOO! They loved her. We love her.
Cassandra the amazing photographer/videographer, Cassandra the student liaison, and Cassandra the local store that charges you 4x if you’re a “Blanc”... white guy. Oh well. Supply and demand. We’ll remember to send a local shopping for us next time.
School children called first dibs on use of Coops today! Pretty sweet. Tomorrow they’ll be sharing it with chickens. Better to let them have their fun today...
We were kind of bummed at the thought of all of the boxes used to ship coops to first recipient school in Canaan 3... until we saw this. Now we feel pretty smart (•◡•)
These two students probably won’t see their schools the same ever again. Good! Right? Cassandra Twining left and Kaitlyn Smith on the right get ready to level out the earth so Coops will sit... more level. Not much of anything is level in Canaan 3 (•◡•)
@dahart66@coopdreamstv The very, very first ones are going up today and tomorrow. We will send you a picture of yours! Thank you so much for your extreme, irrational generosity.
Thanks to generous givers like @BornToBuild Christian School of Success in Canaan 3 Haiti is about to get coop’d up! Everything got here and is staged for tomorrow’s coop building fest. Shame we don’t have Brad from @coopdreamstv to whip ‘em together ;-)
Well... @NativeEgg is in Haiti heading out for site survey at the first recipient school. Thank you so much to our great donors for making this possible. More to come!
