New #RCT comparing the effects that 5 cryocompression devices have on skin temperature around the knee
Useful to understand which modality most likely will reliably provide effective treatment

@Scienceofsport Equally, someone who trains less in absolute terms is potentially at greater risk of injury/overtraining if they reduce emphasis on the foundation & increase high intensity volume too much. Possibly almost a finer tightrope to walk for lesser trained people vs higher trained?
@Scienceofsport Loved recent pods on #Zone2 training. What do you think of my "back-of-the-napkin" summary? Reasonable interpretation or missed the mark? (Originally drawn by me, then digitally rendered with the help of ChatGPT). Have added extra notes for clarity. #earnyourspeed
@Scienceofsport Agree. This is where the definition of "Athlete" would be crucial. I think the classic pyramid is the starting point for most/all. But after a point, when reaching a certain level/need for performance then you aim to "earn the right" to train as per the upside trapezoid
Great to speak at the BOKG knee meeting about the evidence for cryocompression therapy after surgery.
Thanks for having me - it was fantastic to be able to present at the first conference I ever attended back in 2016!

@Scienceofsport Not sure if this quite works but: if transwomen don't have advantage over females, surely transmen equally aren't at disadvantage to males. So presumably there should be a similar number of transmen at the elite male level as there are transwomen at the elite female level?
Via @TLexercise, here's a systematic review that concludes what we "know", but rarely do, for talent development in sports systems. Start early, succeed early, but at a price: "...higher-performing SENIOR athletes commenced TPP involvement at older ages": https://t.co/5F50EwEFnl

"External providers are exactly that: external. They should complement teachers’ expertise, not replace it."
So much investment, yet it has resulted in teachers with fewer skills and less knowledge.
Something has gone seriously wrong...

Our accepted abstract to this year's @baskonline meeting has now been published and is available to view here for anyone who is interested: https://t.co/wnLEs6E5pT
A study into actual skin temperature changes when using a cryocompression device.
Great to have had an abstract accepted as an e-poster at this year's @baskonline meeting.
Presenting results demonstrating the effectiveness of the @Physiolab_UK S1 cryocomoression device at reducing skin temperature of the knee.

Happy to be giving a guest lecture today for an undergraduate Clinical Exercise Biomechanics class @_UoW.
Giving some real-world examples of the far-reaching applications of sports science within clinical settings!
Excited to submit some abstracts for the @baskonline conference this year to showcase some great results from recent research with @Physiolab_UK and @_UoW
