The badger cull has ended in Northants.
The 4-year intensive cull licence is over.
We couldn’t save them all, but our amazing Patrollers kept clans alive.
Thank you to everyone who donated fuel money + support.
Shame on landowners, farmers & govt that enabled this cruelty.
@ProtectTheWild_ The badger cull isn’t about necessity or science - it’s about who holds the purse strings. Power only listens when there’s profit.
Morality and public outcry mean little when weighted against money and influence.
It takes two trained veterinary surgeons, a lot of hospital equipment, food, medicine and over 50 volunteers and staff and a lot of determination to care for this tiny little Robin and get her safely back home. Why do we do it? ……because she’s worth it. It’s not only because it’s the right thing to do, although that would be enough but it’s because she’s the vital link to all the future generating in her family line and right now we are short of wildlife. Thank you for supporting us in the past, now and in the future. We aren’t going anywhere we are committed to wildlife thriving in 2025 and beyond xxx
"So I’m driving down the road this morning and the cars in front of me are driving over a black thing in the road. It’s going between their tires so I’m guessing it’s a box. It’s a kitten just sitting upright shaking like a leaf. And some asshole had spread glue on its paws and stuck it to the road. I thought maybe it walked through glue somewhere but after looking at it, that was totally spread into her paws. She was wet and freezing and literally glued to the road. And NO ONE STOPPED. 😳 What the f$&k people??? I slammed on my brakes and stopped all the traffic and put my hazards on and got out and pealed her off the road. People were honking and all pissy....really??? It’s a kitten glued to the road!! So after a goo gone bath and some food and cream we have a new kitten. Luckiest kitten in the world!"
After a very steep and cold walk to my photography hide I found a new friend waiting for me in the lean-to, in an old hay bale! @BadgerTrust @BBCSpringwatch @WorcsWT
Outraged that top gardeners like Alan Titchmarsh have signed on with Scribehound—a site openly pushing hunting and wildlife killing! You can’t promote “nature” while backing an industry that slaughters it. Drop Scribehound NOW!
The story of Nigel the Nighthawk + the rescue of a Saker falcon off an Iranian ship, hand-rearing & rehabilitating badger cubs, the story of Muffles & Velvet, my 2 foxes + much more, are told in my book From Badgers to Nighthawks. PM for details. £10 + pp.
Mr Arbuckle is a big but gentle badger. I quietly followed him up the field last night although he noticed me in the end. Like so many of our wild neighbours he is threatened by blood hungry hobby shooters and the shameful enabling English agricultural policy.
This autumn, please consider leaving dead plants in your garden rather than 'tidying' them up. Over the winter they will provide sheltered spots for hibernating ladybirds and lots of other creatures 🐞

It’s #NationalBadgerDay
Badgers are great seed dispersers, they help to maintain healthy insect populations, they aerate the soil with their digging abilities improving plant health and water drainage. Supposedly ‘protected’ in the UK. Let’s celebrate these remarkable beings.
