68% of Japan is covered in forests, and of this 49% is officially protected and can not be logged or cut. All protected forests belong to one or more of 17 nationally recognized classes, each with a different purpose, management strategy, and use. This thread will list them all.
"Management of Scotland's grouse shooting estates must change radically to cut emissions from peatlands"
This is the new report Dr Richard Dixon is referring to => https://t.co/86edG2LkXn
Just one #lynx for every 10 thousand people in #Scotland.
Surely we can find the space in our🌲🌳 & ❤️❤️ for this native cat that we drove to extinction just a few centuries ago?
Not a big ask!
Lynx territory varies widely across Europe and depends on factors including the availability of habitat and prey. Given that they are solitary and territorial towards other lynx, Scotland currently has room for around 500 of these enigmatic cats.

Former convenor of Scottish Parliament's rural committee makes a formal request to put salmon farming under close scrutiny. "The industry has been unable to address fish mortality rates which are increasing at an alarming rate" https://t.co/1GrexrxkYI @ScotParl@SP_RuralAffairs
@markruskell A great step forward, but long overdue. Well done community & @scottishgreens campaigners. Now to make sure the new regs are policed & not abused.
Next step must be to ban open cage #salmon#farming which does huge damage to many species vital to stability of marine ecosystems
I’m supporting the Protect Horse Island MPA campaign because a new fish farm would damage the protected environment and the local economy, against the will of the local community. Please help stop this new fish farm here #ProtectHorseIsland https://t.co/Bo0cqmAfEG
@SalmonPharming @SalmonScotland Nobody can be serious about 50 more years of unsustainable salmon farming.
The only good thing about Boris was how he enabled the publics’ ability to spot an outrageous LIAR.
“Sustainable” @tavishscott 🤥🤥🤥
After the latest harrowing images of illegal animal welfare breaches, I can’t help thinking nobody is really listening to @SalmonScotland’s disastrous PR.
Systematic, systemic and endemic animal welfare abuse in salmon farming in Scotland.
@MairiGougeon claims this is:
“Food for life”
“Healthy food”
“Blue food”
“Nature positive”
“Vital part of our economy”
“Sustainable growth”
“Scotlands key export”
“A vision for the future” 🤷🏻♂️🤬
