and why shouldn’t housing be a commodity? because it doesn’t work!! the deeply held belief of many that a profit motive will basically always increase the quality of some product or service just isn’t true! commodifying housing makes it less accessible and worse
@erica_losey yes when i was in boy scouts we used to play with this yellow lab that would chase the ball so hard that she always had to skid to a stop. she scraped the shit out of her knees so much that the leaders had to tell us we couldn't play with her anymore (anecdote)
@SoliSolstice my grandparents used to give a copy of this book to every high school grad in the family and everyone would sign the pages with notes like this. hope the person who owned this one got where they were going
@pastfuturebrett thanks again for these threads! it's good to know that there's time to work on craft and that the path to career writing is not linear. I keep getting worried that I'm in the wrong place but it's nice to hear from someone who's a little further along that it's alright
@pastfuturebrett I just graduated and am eating rice and beans while I look for the job that's gonna hold me while I try to make it. Needed this thread. Thank you.
as much as I liked to groan about the reviews pitchfork gave albums that I loved, I'm gonna miss being able to click on their website and see new music I've never heard of every day. huge bummer.
