@PerthandKinross @iamtheetube Hi, thanks for flagging this to us. I've passed the information on to our beaver team and our Wildlife Crime Officer.

Our seas and coasts are incredibly rich and diverse, but they're under pressure from climate change, pollution and historic degradation. This plan is a vital step to accelerate restoration and support communities.

🌊 The Marine & Coastal Restoration Plan is out now!

It outlines actions to support habitat & species restoration, boost community-led efforts, and deliver ecological & socio-economic benefits.

🦸‍♂️ Have you met our Nature30 fab four?

🌲 Areas in Argyll, Lanark, Lochaber and Moray are the first recognised Nature30 sites that will help safeguard at least 30 percent of Scotland's land and sea by 2030.

We're inviting anyone who owns or manages land, that is or will be delivering great things for nature, to join these pioneering places and apply for Nature30 recognition too!

An extremely rare moss which has only been found in one place in the UK in the last 30 years has now been moved to two new sites in a bid to revive the critically endangered species.

Round-leaved bryum, a moss which lives in the mud and is only revealed when water levels in lochs and reservoirs are low, was identified by @TheBotanics' David Chamberlain at Threipmuir Reservoir, near Balerno, Edinburgh in December 2023.

Since then, NatureScot and RBGE have been working together to grow and translocate the rare moss to @scottish_water's North Third and Loch Coulter reservoirs, near Stirling, which were found to have the right conditions for the moss to survive.

Congrats to all the wonderful finalists, working hard to protect Scotland's nature 🍃

We welcome Scotland’s first action plan for blue carbon. Blue carbon habitats, such as flourishing kelp beds, saltmarshes and seagrass meadows trap carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. They also help to protect our soft coastlines from storms and rising sea levels, as well as providing a nursery for fish and habitat for a wealth of other species.

NatureScot will lead on several actions within the plan, working to help restore blue carbon habitats and reduce pressures on these incredibly valuable natural assets.

@Culross_Harbour @scottish_water @ScottishEPA Hi Kenneth, This is the remains of a very old fin whale which stranded in Jan 2024. The Fife Coast and Countryside Trust made the decision that it should be left on the beach to decompose naturally. You can read more in this BBC story:
