ਸਕੂਨ | Sukoon - does not mean the absence of chaos - it means calm inside the chaos. The kind you find when you stop wrestling with the tide and let your faith keep you afloat.

ਸਿਦਕ | Sidak - unshakable trust - the bridge between all others. Trust in God’s timing. Trust that pain isn’t random, but a sculptor shaping you into who you need to be.

ਸੰਤੋਖ | Santokh - contentment - not every desire needs to be fulfilled to feel full. That sometimes, peace is not in having more, but in wanting less.

Recently, life tested me in ways I wouldn’t wish on anyone. Doors slammed. People I trusted vanished. Plans I had built for years collapsed overnight. I had every reason to rage, curse, and break.

But instead -

I waited (Sabar / ਸਬਰ).
I thanked (Shukar / ਸ਼ੁਕਰ).
I breathed (Sukoon / ਸਕੂਨ).
I believed (Sidak / ਸਿਦਕ).
I rested in enough (Santokh / ਸੰਤੋਖ).

And slowly, life shifted. Not because the storm passed - but because I stopped letting it own me.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is not fight the storm… but trust the One who sent it.

In a recent episode of CBC’s Power and Politics, political strategists from across the spectrum made it clear: this is no longer just a Sikh issue - this is a Canadian issue.

Melanie Richer of Earnscliffe Strategies said it best: “Right is right and wrong is wrong. This is a dangerous precedent to set and a dangerous message to send to Canadians.” She called out the double standards and silence surrounding foreign interference - interference that targets Sikh voices and undermines Canada’s democratic institutions.

Fred DeLoray from NorthStar Public Affairs pushed the conversation further: “This is Outrageous!” We talk about sovereignty in our Country. What does sovereignty mean in this Country, if we don’t enforce our own rules?”

It’s time we all ask ourselves that same question.
