I have in the past previously thought out loud that it would be a good idea for Developers to have a Guild.
Much like VAs, Actors, Writers, etc - we produce output that _continually_ makes a company money even though we are paid once for it.
✨MONETIZED =/= COMMERCIAL✨
I see artists charging for “Monetized” content when they don’t know what that entails.
One of the things I want to make crystal clear: “Monetized Content” is NOT the same as “Commercial Content”.
If a vtuber or streamer is affiliated/partner on a platform, that is MONETIZED.
If they are selling merch, that is COMMERCIAL.
MONETIZED content should NOT be charged extra because that is the PLATFORM making money off the streamers hard work and paying them a small percentage. They have NO CONTROL over that and cannot set their prices or worth. Even big shot streamers like Shylily and Ironmouse can’t just hit up Twitch and say “Hey, I want a 90:10 split because my viewers donate and sub so much”.
COMMERCIAL content CAN be charged extra for (at the artists discretion) because that is the streamer making money off the ARTIST’S work. They are able to set their prices and receive a direct benefit from their original commission, sometimes making more off sales than the original commission cost. That’s awesome for the streamer and should be understandable if the artist wants a small kickback from those sales since they can’t charge royalties and likely won’t see a substantial increase in clients and sales from that merch.
I realize this might be a bit of a hot take to some artists. Please realize - you can charge whatever and however you want. But if you DO NOT know the difference between “Monetized” and “Commercial” then I hope you will do the research, know your audience and hopefully not be screwing over your clients.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk. 😂
@MarkShust MessageFormat doesn't deal with storage, just parsing
It supports pluralization, gender, choice trees, date and number formatting and more
I did a small presentation on it 3 years ago

@MarkShust Why did you write a (seemingly, to me) new translation syntax for Marko? PHP has a really powerful one built in with MessageFormatter.
It's kind of baffling to me, since Magento also has MessageFormatter built into it
Just in case it wasn't clear
- In this house we respect peoples pronouns.
- You are seen and yes, you are loved.
- If your family don't respect you? I'm your family now. And I'm proud of you.
- We don't tolerate bigotry, hatespeech or ableism.
- You are enough.

I feel like Google isn't taking Google Home/Assistant seriously.
No Instacart support, Obviously doesn't work with Skylight. Google wants to be the center but won't support innovation that allows it to stay the center.
