@ShavinWijetunge@CBSL Sorry about the late response.
It is hard to provide a specific range for AWPR, but the movement in G-sec yields will be a key determinant of it.
#NCPI
NCPI-based #headlineinflation dropped to 1.6% (yoy) in May, driven by the drop in food inflation.
#Coreinflation accelerated marginally to 3.1%, although on a m-o-m basis, it recorded a decline, indicating subdued demand conditions.

@Thanushka02@CBSL Just to clarify, the exchange rate is determined based on transactions in the domestic foreign exchange market. Ofc, if there's a relative increase in imports, currency could depreciate, and imports will become expensive, feeding into domestic inflation.
@Thanushka02@CBSL Technically, if medium term inflation is below the target (on a sustained basis), then a central bank should act by (further) easing monetary policy using its toolkit!
However, I don't understand what you meant by saying "buying USD at a higher rate".
@Thanushka02@CBSL Note: Inflation target is measured based on CCPI (and not NCPI) and it is even lower.
But we take a medium term view on inflation. And policy decisions are data-driven.
@Thanushka02 Compared to the target (of 5%), it is! But, @CBSL looks at the medium term and it's about maintaining inflation at or around the target over the medium term (as monetary transmission takes time).
The inflation fan chart shows the medium term inflation projections.
