Today, the firstie (senior) class officially received their service assignments! From Induction Day to now, the firsties have been developing morally, mentally, and physically for these assignments.

On September 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 innocent lives were taken in a single act of terror. In the days, months, and years that followed, Americans stood united in grief, resilience, and resolve.

We honor the victims, their families, and the countless first responders who ran toward danger. We also remember the service members who answered the nation’s call in the years that followed, carrying the fight forward.

We will never forget. Semper Fidelis.

Congrats to the Midshipmen 2nd Class (juniors) for signing their “2 for 7” agreements today, committing to seven years of service to their country: Two more at the Academy followed by five in the Navy or Marine Corps.

Today, Lt. Gen. Michael J. Borgschulte assumed command as the Superintendent of the @NavalAcademy!

Lt. Gen. Borgschulte played football for the Naval Academy before graduating in 1991. A career Marine Corps aviator and combat leader whose assignments span multiple MEUs, Marine Aircraft Groups, and joint commands, including combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. He has commanded at every level, earned distinction at the Naval War College, and served in key operational and strategic billets across the Marine Corps and Joint Staff.

This marks the first time in history that a Marine has led the Naval Academy.

The Confidence Course challenges plebes mentally and physically with high platforms, cargo nets, swinging obstacles, and a zip line. It is designed to develop critical thinking, effective communication, self confidence, and team building.

⚓USN Heritage Brief: The Class of '29 learned about the history and traditions of the U.S. Navy this week. They were introduced to naval leadership, including CDR BJ Farrell '04, former CO of the @USSConstitution, and learned about valor and sacrifice.

Yesterday, the Class of 2029 experienced their first full day with their new detailers for the rest of Plebe Summer training. This fresh set of detailers relieved the detailers that have been molding the plebes into proper midshipmen since I-Day during yesterday’s ceremony.

Today, the U.S. Naval Academy is welcoming the Class of 2029 midshipmen candidates during Induction Day 2025. I-Day marks the beginning of a demanding six-week indoctrination period called Plebe Summer that is intended to transition the candidates from civilian to military life.
