@candidamoss@naomirwolf My thesis called "is it faithful?" Is all about "literal" translation and how it doesn't exist. she can read it in the University of London library if she wants.
There is no literal translation. The arrogance of thinking the whole field of translation studies doesn't exist!
4. Why did the early Christians think Jesus was the Messiah?
Join @shadowbeast73 to think about what belief in the Messiah looked like amongst Jews in the first and second centuries, and why the first Christians believed that Jesus was the Messiah.

1. What was everyday life like for 1st Century Jews?
In the first episode, Rabba Dr Lindsey Taylor-Guthartz thinks about what day-to-day life was like for Jews at the time of Jesus.

Pleased to share that the podcast series I worked on for @UoMReligion and @McrJewStudies is out now, exploring the Jewish context of the New Testament.
'What Would Jesus the Jew Do?' is available in all your usual pod places with additional resources at https://t.co/XwFs3oSeDP
@JakeDoberenz@SarahRollens Nothing in these threads explains where the ideas are from. And don't expect students to critique the information they are getting.
The chatAI doesn't care about critical thinking only answering a question or that it's reinforcing white hegemonic bias.
Students should.
@JakeDoberenz@SarahRollens But another problem here is that chatGPT and the like aren't trained on academic libraries and journal subscriptions, but what's widely available and free discussion on the internet, with little weight to value over quantity.
So they reassert the biases of that not scholarship
@sheilagregoire But this is why complementarianism is so dangerous as a teaching, right?.becuase it relies on the men being 'one of the good ones'.
And women who have one of the good ones then back up complementarianism as they don't see their privilege so the abused woman blames herself.
@emilygathergood I'm so sad it's not actually about cats and the new testament cos that would have given me a head start.
The desire to send in an entirely pun based application however is very very strong.
Knowledge is power. All children from a young age should know the correct name for body parts, should be taught about consent and body autonomy, and we need to demystify sex in an age-appropriate manner in a safe environment so they donβt rely on the internet.
The more they know the less they are at risk, more in control of their own bodies, and respectful towards each other.
@LenaArbring@KaitlynSchiess When I went to study theology I deliberately went to a non religious institution, and all I heard was 'studying that way makes people lose their faith' and I felt likw this. if studying what we believe makes us lose it then it was never what they all proclaimed it was anyway.
Things I never get bored of hearing about our conf:
I felt safe.
I thought I'd feel awkward cos I'm not an academic but it was so welcoming.
I knew you had my back.
It was rigourous & fun
I couldn't have come if it were in person.
People were so kind.
Academia can be this.
Had so much fun with @MetalClassicist and @SaraWhizbanger on this podcast.
She asks the hard questions!!
