Diane lost her job and her apartment within the same week. She lived in her car for three months with her dog, Pepper. When the car stopped running, she had no choice. She surrendered Pepper to Clearwater Animal Shelter and promised she would return. A housing program helped Diane get stable eight weeks ago. She visited eleven shelters before finding Pepper at the twelfth, fourteen months later. When Pepper saw her, he froze. Then he ran. They both went down on the floor and stayed there.
