🇮🇳 The BRICS Heads of Anti-Drug Agencies Meeting commenced today in Guwahati under India’s BRICS Chairship 2026, bringing together BRICS nations to forge a stronger, more coordinated response against the global drug threat.
🤝 Over the next two days, member countries will deliberate on emerging challenges in drug trafficking and substance abuse, with the objective of deepening operational cooperation and collective action.
🔷 Director General, Narcotics Control Bureau, Shri Anurag Garg, leading the Indian delegation, called upon BRICS drug law enforcement agencies to build a partnership founded on speed, trust, and seamless real-time intelligence sharing that transcends borders and enables decisive action against transnational drug syndicates.
🔷 Highlighting India’s unwavering commitment under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, he underscored India’s Zero-Tolerance Policy against Drugs and its Three-Year Roadmap (2026–2029) based on a Network-Centric Enforcement approach—targeting entire criminal networks, preventing drug abuse through mass awareness, and strengthening treatment, de-addiction, and rehabilitation.
🔷 India also proposed the establishment of a BRICS Virtual Working Group to institutionalise real-time intelligence exchange, jointly analyse emerging trafficking trends, coordinate enforcement efforts, and build a future-ready framework for collective action against the evolving global drug menace.

Modi govt is resolved for a ‘Drug-Free India’.
Glad to share that through ‘Operation RAGEPILL’, our agencies have achieved the first-ever seizure of Captagon, the so-called “Jihadi Drug”, worth ₹182 crore.
The busting of the drug consignment destined for the Middle East and the arrest of a foreign national stand out as shining examples of our commitment to zero tolerance against drugs.
I repeat we will clamp down on every gram of drugs entering India or leaving the country using our territory as the transit route. Kudos to the brave and vigilant warriors of the NCB. @narcoticsbureau
