Sigh.
It’s really cool that despite all the struggles and opportunities to break up the Jaylen/Jayson duo, Celtics stuck to their vision and trusted in their development and perseverance to push through. Celtics fans have had the rare opportunity in the modern NBA to really watch players they drafted go through the full gauntlet of ups and downs, which makes the success so much more satisfying.
It’s really underappreciated how Brad Stevens came into the NBA as a top tier coach and immediately transitioned to being a top tier exec. Brad in every single offseason or trade deadline made moves to improve the team - he was aggressive in all the right ways.
The team is loaded with players that play the right way, and it’s a team that truly is a unit and plays a super team oriented style of play, which is why they’re susceptible to the nonsense player ranking “who’s team is it” discussions (that I, to be clear, gleefully participate in). They’re a unique team, a true collective, and we don’t know how to deal with that in the modern NBA.
I respect the hell out of this team, coaches, exec, players, and as a Laker fan I hate them with every fiber in my being so this has been an especially painful post.
Congratulations, you assholes.
