Around 120,000 protestors took the streets of Barcelona Monday, calling for a general strike to stop evictions amid soaring rent costs. The demonstration took place just one day after Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez called for snap elections after failing to push housing reforms through Parliament.
Spain has been rocked by protests over housing since late September, triggered by the forcible expulsion of 87-year-old Maricarmen Abascal from her Madrid apartment, which she had lived in for decades.
The demonstration concluded with clashes with police, with 13 people arrested.
Thee stories are important and made most effective when we conextualize what the US recently has done to Honduras leading up to the coup of 2009 under Obama and the violence that erupted post that coup. The manufactured intensification of violence and precarity.
“In light of the high school student movement, it's important for us to show our solidarity as an agricultural movement. In light of the police repression in recent times, both within the agricultural movement and within the high school student movement.”

« Au vu du mouvement lycéen, c'est important pour nous de montrer notre solidarité en tant que mouvement agricole. Au vu de la répression policière ces derniers temps, à la fois au sein du mouvement agricole et au sein du mouvement lycéen. On a besoin qu'il y ait une convergence des luttes. »

I highly recommend Alana Lentin’s book The New Racial Regime to understand what racism does, not solely what it is (people being racist). Otherwise we distort racism, including Zionism, by individualizing and moralizing it rather than understanding it in structural terms.

He made hundreds of millions, while countless people still don't have good internet.
We went to Louisiana where kids can't do their homework, schools can't support their students, and businesses struggle without a reliable connection.
@Memebot9001@FilmThePoliceLA I didn't just get here. I've critiqued dsa-la for a decade + on this and many other issues. My conclusion is that yall are unprincipled and don't care. Other chapters do better. You can too. Any time lean into better.
