Zimbabwe ๐ฟ๐ผ : On June 18, 2026, Zimbabwe National Assembly approved a constitutional amendment bill that would extend presidential terms from five to seven years and postpone the next general election from 2028 to 2030.
The bill received more than the required two-thirds majority in Parliament and now moves to the Senate for consideration. If approved and signed into law, the changes could allow President Emmerson Mnangagwa to remain in office until 2030.
Supporters say the reforms will promote political stability, while critics argue the changes could weaken democratic accountability.
