I was walking to a matatu stage on Friday. I held a plastic juice tumbler in my hand as I scouted for a bin. I stopped at a kiosk to buy some gum and inquired the seller whether there was a nearby bin where I could drop my tumbler.

As I turned to continue looking for the mystery bin, it hit me that she meant the heap of trash that was on that corner. Our citizens have gotten so used to plastic pollution to a point it's not a big deal anymore. And it broke my heart.
