#DeafEd Q6: I do not like the "racial primes" on most if not all high school standardized testing. I think implicit racism on a tests is not a good thing let alone explicit racism in the form of "racial primes"!
@lisaSchmidt372 Great question about rather it is a competition! I think norm referenced tests are competitive and most test are norm rather than criteria referenced. Moreover, even the criteria referenced tests are derived from some kind of norm.
#DeafEd Q3: When thinking about ASL video accessibility my mind thinks of Deaf blind students. I think think there is a lot that can be done to provide greater access for Deaf blind students.
#DeafEd Q2: I think retrieval practices, low stakes formative assessments/tests, and providing students opportunity to dialogue about what they have learned are excellent ways to prep for test taking.
#DeafEd In response to Q1, I see a lot of language adjustments or code switching by staff and teachers when conversing with Deaf students. Specifically, child directed signing (CDS) which includes many features that support language learning such as expanding, rephrasing, etc.
@Actorboi1981 I think having student representation and voice in classrooms is important and could be achieved through older peer students as TAs in classes.
