If we assume the point of investing is ultimately to improve your quality of life and the quality of life of those you most care about, investments that consistently add stress over long periods of time probably don’t make sense. Money is traded for things or experiences that catalyze certain feelings. If your investments are generating the opposite spectrum of feelings, it might be time to reassess.
It’s easy to miss the forest for the trees. Money is a means, not an end.
And in the end, most things matter very, very little. Do what helps you sleep at night and wake up with a low heart rate. To me, those are the hallmarks of a world-class investor who gets the big picture.
Despite the extremes over the past few months, global temperatures remain broadly consistent with climate model projections.
Over at The Climate Brink we take a deep dive on comparing climate models and the latest observations: https://t.co/t0DJbP1Wnv
New paper! Climatically suitable areas for the endangered crested capuchin monkey projected to shrink, yet habitat loss and fragmentation persist as primary threats to the species. #primatology#conservation#macroecology

Strong relationships don’t need agreement. They need alignment.
Agreement is having identical opinions. Alignment is having shared values.
Agreement is taking the same path. Alignment is heading in the same direction.
Closeness is a matter of commitment, not consensus.
September temperatures are now out from our Berkeley Earth dataset. Looking at all the Septembers back to 1850 helps highlight just how anomalous this month has been: https://t.co/lzh5i5m1Gm
Don’t mistake silence for apathy. When people are quiet, they’re often busy thinking and learning.
Extraverts like to process ideas by talking them through. Introverts prefer to reflect before they speak.
I'm not disengaged. I'm listening to your views and formulating mine.
Global temperatures in 2023 are extraordinary.
The various different datasets available all agree on this. We are breaking records by shocking amounts.

What are folks' favorite papers that evaluate a climate adaptation intervention? i.e. that tell you something to the effect of: intervention Z reduced the effect of some climate variable on some outcome by some amount. Self-citation encouraged!
Its hard to overstate just how exceptionally high global temperatures are at the moment. They have blown past anything we've previously experienced by a huge margin.
Over at The Climate Brink, we try and visualize this summer of extremes in seven charts. https://t.co/yApwMbyxgG
They will be gone forever just because people drive their cars with bio fuels from Palm Oil deforestation and eat food products like biscuits with Palm Oil ingredients
Why are we just letting this happen?
Demand proper food labeling - end to Palm Oil
