@LeaderStance The whole chapter on diversity was eye-opening for me mostly because when I think of diversity I think of ethnic and cultural differences but not necessarily age, gender, etc. So Chapter 13 as a whole was good to realize all the different areas of diversity.
@BrantKara@ABergeronBauer@LeaderStance I also really appreciated this section as we recently implemented several of these strategies into our weekly team meeting and it flows so much better and is more productive. Mainly having an agenda, staying on time, and summarizing important discussions and decisions.
@ABergeronBauer@LeaderStance My favorite group is my current office work group at UNL. It's a group of strong independent women with very diverse backgrounds but we come to work to get things done and we assist and support each other. We have become a tight-knit family! ❤
@LeaderStance I believe that depending on the type of group and the group's purpose should determine the best individuals to evaluate the group's performance. Although, no matter the group I believe there is not ONE individual but a few that should evaluate each will bring a new perspective.
@LeaderStance The most important part of forming a group is the norming stage. The norming stage establishes rules and social relationships that allow the group to work. I agree that norming is important as from my experience it is hard to complete tasks if you're not sure where you stand.
@LeaderStance I feel communication is always important in general but more specifically communication of the expectations of the team and the individuals that make up the team.
@LeaderStance I am looking forward to learning more about group and team dynamics that I can apply in my future teaching roles. I think some critical components of groups and teams that need to be addressed through leadership and research are culture differences/perspective differences.
