It Turley's job to fix the issues he brings up or take a firm stand on what "should" be done in terms of sanctions or remedies. But if he is going to lean on his knowledge of the legal system as the product of his blog he could at least paint a picture for us of what the potential fixes are. In the end, I find myself being more riled up and frustrated than informed. Sad because many of the subjects Turley writes about are important, and we would not likely know about them otherwise. Unfortunately his irritating lack of thoroughness has me wanting to tune out.
Rage and the Republic? Turley does what he always does, writes an articulate and informative article about an event of importance leaving you outraged and seeking a remedy, then leaves that untouched. Here he could lean on his knowledge of the legal system to illuminate, instead he chooses to feed the very rage he dedicated an entire book to condemn.
@BorralhoCaio@AlexPereiraUFC Absolutely, and you have to admire his courage and toughness to even attempt such a thing. 185, 205... then 265???? That is like a 135r fighting a 185r.
@BillKristol Says a guy who never had to fight for anything in his life and would not be able to muster the courage to do so even for himself. He just doesn’t get it and never will.
Defend a savage and you will be considered one. It is that simple. Align yourself with murderers, make excuses for them, and you are as bad as they are. In fact, it is this very mentality that is responsible for the creation of people like Karmelo Anthony. Sadly, it will result in tragedies such as this one from time to time, but the far bigger tragedy is that you are destroying an entire generation of young black people by defending it.
This Black Woman in Karmelo Anthony’s Guilty verdict:
“What am I going to tell my FIVE sons, America is just a racist country”
What’s your response to her ??
@iqrafatma1278 I just leave. The reputation of a restaurant that would display a sign or have servers that do would likely have kept me from going there to begin with.
@RichardGrenell Look at you Richard! A true renaissance man! I watched as well. Might I suggest you check out Hagler Hearns first round if you have not yet seen it?
Understanding the Anti-Nick Shirley Act (AB 2624). How the Democrats Hope to Hide Fraud and Waste.A few days ago I pledged to get to the bottom of the so called Anti-Nick Shirley Bill. I read the entire bill word for word and the following is what I came up with.
AB 2624 is working its way through the California Legislature. Proponents say the bill is a necessary safety measure to protect workers, volunteers, and facilities providing services to undocumented immigrants from doxxing, threats, harassment, and anti-immigrant vigilantes. Opponents call it the “Stop Nick Shirley Act.” They argue it creates a powerful shield that will chill legitimate investigative journalism and public oversight of taxpayer-funded programs, making it much harder to expose fraud or simply show how much public money is going to services for illegal aliens. I read through the entire bill, line by line and hope to help you make sense of it.
Important note upfront: There is a meaningful difference between exposing outright fraud (billing taxpayers for services never provided or for clearly ineligible recipients in violation of rules) and highlighting legal but controversial spending (the scale and cost of services going to illegal aliens, even when no explicit law prohibits it). Taxpayers have a strong interest in knowing about both — how much money is involved, where it goes, and who operates the programs. Separately, I believe professionals licensed in the name of all Californians (such as physicians providing puberty blockers to minors) should own their public-facing work, but I do not support filming or shaming individual patients or vulnerable people receiving services. Nobody I know opposes legal immigrants receiving the same benefits any other legal resident would get; the transparency concern centers on programs serving people here illegally.
First some Background:
Secret Address Program for Health Care: There is an exemption to the California Public Records Act, through which California already lets workers, volunteers, and patients at abortion and gender-affirming care clinics apply for a secret substitute address through the Secretary of State. Government agencies then hide their real home address from public records requests. Lying on the application for this exemption is a misdemeanor (we will return to that later).
Civil and Criminal Posting Bans for Health Care: Anyone who knowingly posts or shares personal info or images (including video) of such people online, if done with intent to incite imminent great bodily harm or to threaten them or their family, are subject to civil damages and criminal fines up to 10,000 per violation, imprisonment, or both. Anyone who solicits, sells, or trades that info with the same intent is subject to these same sanctions.
Extension to Immigration Support Services: AB 2624, the Anti-Shirley bill copies the secret address program and the posting/selling bans and extends them to a much broader new group: “designated immigration support services” providers, employees, or volunteers. This covers nonprofits, legal clinics, advocacy groups, case managers, translators, counselors, and related health facilities providing services to undocumented immigrants — many funded by taxpayer dollars.
How the Secret Address Program Actually Works: To get the protections, applicants must claim they face threats or harassment tied to their work. As mentioned, The bill does make it a misdemeanor to lie or exaggerate on the application. However, there is no real policing or adjudication mechanism: no required police report, no court finding, no independent investigation — just a quick in-person counselor meeting and “basic documentation.” In practice, essentially anyone who subjectively claims they are being threatened, harassed or intimidated and applies can get the full shield. This means anyone who does not want to be exposed or held accountable can easily use the bill to stay hidden from public scrutiny.
Real-world example: In Shirley’s March 2026 video, he filmed public exteriors and operations at alleged “ghost” daycare and hospice sites in California linked to networks serving undocumented immigrants. These sites allegedly billed over $170 million in government programs (Medi-Cal, state childcare funds, etc.) while appearing empty or underused, with operators living lavishly. Much footage was from public streets. Under AB 2624, protected individuals could potentially demand removal of such videos. Posters could face fines and jail risks as a result of mere allegations of “intent to harass,” even without proven violence. This could keep both clear fraud and legitimate questions about the volume of taxpayer dollars going to services for undocumented immigrants in the dark.
As of April 15, 2026, AB 2624 is still moving through the California Assembly (most recently re-referred to the Judiciary Committee after amendments on April 9). It has not passed the Legislature or been signed by the Governor, so none of its provisions are in effect yet. This is just another example of the level of sophistication integrated into California politics which keeps the gravy train running.

Giving the Devil His Due: My favorite movie/play is "A Man For All Seasons, which showcases the full spectrum of principle and raw Machiavellianism that we see in human beings. The play centers around King Henry VIII wanting his Chancellor, Sir Thomas More to support him in trying to secure an annulment of his marriage from the Pope. More was opposed on principle and refused. Ultimately it cost him his head. But there are two scenes I want to share with you that come to mind as I watch Tucker Carlson and review his history. In the first, Sir Thomas returns home after being summoned to the castle where the King browbeats him for much of the night over what became referred as "The Kings Great Matter." More has travelled all night on a river boat, arriving home in the early morning. He is greeted by his wife, daughter, and William Roper, his daughter's idealistic young suitor. Roper zealously launches off into various political and moral issues with no regard for the hour. At some point More turns to him and says: "See here, Will. Two years ago you were a loyal Churchman. Now you have fallen in with the Lutherans on account of being persuaded by their logic. I can only hope that when your head stops spinning it is affixed as God intended.” And that is what, to be generous, we are seeing in Carlson. He is rich kid who has spent a lifetime of privilege moralizing to others, the only common thread being his desire to draw attention to himself. He is slick enough to fool some for a while, but if you review his history, it is a serial story of people figuring that out and sending him packing. In another scene, a young and corrupt politician, Richard Rich, is petitioning More to employ him or provide a reference for him. More knows Rich has been spying on him and feeding information to advance himself. In one final plea, Rich insists, "I would be faithful!" Sir Thomas responds: “Richard, you couldn't answer for yourself even so far as tonight.” And THAT is Tucker. It is not about faithfulness to Trump, party or even country, but to principle. It is becoming increasingly clear that Tucker is faithful to one thing, his aspiration to be in the limelight. In the end, he won't even be relevant. As an added bonus, I am attaching a clip of my favorite scene, which takes place after More refuses Rich and he leaves. It is only tangentially relevant, will resonate with my principled friends and particularly my law enforcement brothers and sisters. Enjoy. https://t.co/IixcaICwfY
@bennyjohnson@Johnsonnews7 Talking through your nose is just one of the many attempts to emulate being a woman which is both odd and ineffective. It is puzzling to me how anyone would have thought that makes one sound more like a feminine.
@Pro__Trading @c_j_hoffman He is not a victim who had something “happen to him.” We re all the captains of our own ships and he sailed his right to hell. I have no sympathy for him whatsoever.
@RichardGrenell ALL my Iranian friends are rejoicing and hopeful that Iran will finally be able to join the rest of the global community. Dems will not be able to keep their exuberance under wraps.
