Today, we're excited to announce our pre-seed round of US$1M, led by @GarageCapital , with participation from @PanacheVC, and angels from Telus Health, Shopify, Uber, League, and more.
Really great talk today @TechTO (and great speakers) on the Canadian tech ecosystem. One thing I love about the Canadian tech group is how supportive it is and how we work together to improve the ecosystem. And I have no doubt that it will continue to grow because of this.
I get the benefit but I have a healthy level of scepticism after reading A History of the United States in Five Crashes and knowing human nature’s ability to take a financial instrument and corrupt it. So I continue to watch this space...
There is a lot of talk about #SPACs these days, especially in #proptech: the SPAC/Porch merger; SPAC/Opendoor merger; Tishman’s new $300m SPAC for proptech deals; and Softbank’s announcement to set up a new SPAC.
A good post on who you are doing things for, for those just starting out in their careers, or perhaps good for anyone :) My fav quote: "You can’t live your life for the recognition of people who will never see you" https://t.co/BNJsw8QMxn

Back to #collisionconf. Great day yesterday, especially love hearing from Tobias Lutke from @Shopify. The company is such an inspiration, not only because it's a great Canadian success story but because of its mission to help small businesses.
Love this - "Hustle As Strategy" by @ttunguz https://t.co/f6FhnSe2zO. Relates to my post on assessing companies based on their ability to execute https://t.co/REAF2MzD9q
"In the venture community today, we reward “visionaries” much more than executors." Interesting perspective on why not to meet start-ups in person https://t.co/oOCCA1b9YB
In my recent blog about founder traits, I mention the importance of being able to sell. That includes showing up to a meeting very prepared! It gives me confidence when a founder knows who they are meeting and what their meeting goals are. https://t.co/PAQLQsFiOq
