Motor Vehicle Crash Involving Pedestrian – Great Plain Ave.
On February 2, 2023, at approximately 10:55 AM Needham Police received a phone call that a vehicle had crashed into a telephone pole on Great Plain Ave near the intersection of Rivard Road. It was reported that there
injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene, is cooperating with the investigation, and was eventually transported to Newton-Wellesley Hospital with minor injuries. Needham Police, with assistance from The Norfolk District Attorney’s Office and the Massachusetts
The @NeedhamPolice and Needham Fire Department are investigating a motor vehicle accident. Great Plain Ave. is closed at Central Ave. Traffic on Great Plain is being diverted onto Marked Tree Road.

As a matter of practice, we suggest that residents do not place checks into blue USPS mailboxes, or in the outgoing mail from your residence. The only secure way to mail checks is to physically walk them into the post office.

The Needham Police Department has received a report of a mail theft that may have compromised multiple U.S. Postal Service mailboxes in town between Saturday afternoon on 12/17/22 and Monday morning on 12/19/22.
Additionally, checks contain your personal information and your bank account number – this information can easily be sold online if one of your checks falls into the wrong hands.
***Fatal Crash Update***
We have identified the victim of the fatal crash last night as Dylan Newman, 18 years old, of Newton. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. The crash is still under investigation and no charges are pending as of now.
