A protest which has been absolutely peaceful for the past one month is being pushed towards an absolutely dangerous violent escalation by the government through its refusal to be sympathetic to the young and allowing use of excessive force . Really worried for everyone out there in Jantar Mantar. Was there for couple of hours, it was all packed, but so many barricades have made entry exit points so dangerous. There is hardly any space to stand or move around beyond the stage area. If forces do not display control can only pray the worst doesn’t happen. This has also been one of the safest protests for women and young girl that I have witnessed so far. But now attempts are on it seems to make the protest unsafe for women to join by unidentified miscreants- a young girl was hit by a stick this evening while trying to enter the site. I am really hoping that good sense prevails on the PM and his government to send ministers to jantar mantar for a meaningful urgent dialogue with the youth and control the situation instead of resorting to all kinds of tool kit labelling and accusations through sources. Praying for safety of all.
