'Jaldi ka kaam, shaitaan ka!' The speed with which the 'voice voting' on #NREGA repeal Bill was conducted, amid protests & chaos, is alarming (though not entirely unexpected)!
Speaker asked protesting MPs to go back to seats to move amendments but didn't even wait for them to respond & proceeded swiftly with voting (see video). [This means that all those amendments that several MPs had submitted, but couldn't move will not become part of record]
Voice vote itself is a dubious mechanism. Amid all that noise, how could the Speaker say whether Ayes had it or Noes? Protests by MPs proved to be a valuable opportunity for Govt to push Bill through without recorded vote.

Just saying that all that Opposition was asking for was a 'debate'. That's it. Nothing more. Just a 'debate'. In which Govt would also get many opportunities to put its perspective, bash the opposition, as it always does. But, Govt actively resisted it.
It's important to say this again and again that the Govt kept avoiding a 'debate'. The entire #MonsoonSession, it avoided debate on #SIR, electoral reforms, kept opposition in protest mode and passed Bills, including the crucial #IncomeTax Bill, within minutes, without any deliberation, amid protests. This is done as a strategy, has been repeated over many sessions.
Now Govt has agreed for debate and making it sound like a charity. As if the Govt is doing a favour.
It's clear that Govt considers itself above #Parliament, beyond #accountability and not bound by #Constitution.
Till there are procedural reforms and greater sharing of agenda setting power between Govt and Opposition, this high-handed attitude of Govt will continue!

Congratulations fellow countrymen.
Amritkaal in New India.
While temple inaugurations are spun as "rise of new republic" please know it's only to divert your attention from things that actually affect your life & wellbeing.
The right to clean air is a basic human right.
The right to peaceful protest is guaranteed by our Constitution.
Why are citizens who have been peacefully demanding clean air being treated like criminals?
Air pollution is affecting crores of Indians, harming our children and the future of our nation. But the government which came to power through vote chori simply doesn’t care, nor is it even attempting to solve this crisis.
We need to take decisive action on air pollution right now instead of attacking citizens asking for clean air.
For those who don’t believe that multiple votes can be cast by same person, this man, son of a BJP leader, casted votes 8 times and made video of it. This happened in a Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha seat.
i am seeing many insta reels in exactly this genre - people comparing skies, roads, public transport and just overall quality of life. And the comparison is no longer to the West but countries in south east asia, china…
Deleted scenes from Narendra Modi’s life.
He cannot come out of his botox sessions, expensive mushroom, filtered water & make up.
Infact. he doesn’t even touch the poor directly.
Meanwhile Rahul Gandhi who he calls Shehzaada :
it really shouldn’t be that hard, bjp has to take the initiative. you’re in power at the centre and all states that matter. there is no reason for punjab to not cooperate if you actually have a central action plan that rises above petty politics. our kids deserve better.
Can't say this enough.
Had the mainstream media done its job with even 50 percent honesty over the past 10 years, BJP govt would be a thing of the past.

This is for the first that 3 former Election Commissioner OP Rawat, SY Qureshi and Ashok Lavasa have criticised the CEC Gyanesh Kumar at same time and have agreed that onus is on the ECI to clear doubts on the objections raised by LoP Rahul Gandhi.
