3 tips to alleviate stress of staff.
1) if asking to meet with them, let them know why.
2) Don't address an issue you have with one person with the whole staff.
3) praise more than you critique
The constant pressure to “catch kids up” doesn’t actually lead to increased mastery of content or skills. You can’t rush kids through learning experiences. You can’t devalue relationship building because kids are “behind.” All you can do is work to meet kids where they are at.
We can’t even finish trying one police officer before another murder.
It’s not about “one bad apple.” It’s about a culture of death and domination that must be dismantled.
Administrators want teachers to be sensitive to the home life of kids. Well… administrators need to be sensitive to the home life of their teachers. They deal with divorce, depression, family illness, and other stresses that can have a profound impact. They need compassion too.
