A Blizzard Warning (in red) has been issued for the Northern Sierra, Tahoe region, Eastern Sierra, and Southern Cascades. This could be one of the most powerful winter storms of the 21st century for the region.
5-10 feet of snow will fall across much of the region above 5,000 feet from Thur-Sun, with nearly continuously heavy snow for 3+ days straight.
@NWSReno has some incredibly strong wording regarding this blizzard: 'Even walking outside would not be advised during this storm as a person could quickly become lost or disoriented...blowing/drifting snow capable of burying vehicles and making it difficult to locate roads.'
Many Tahoe and Eastern Sierra communities will see up to 2-5 feet of snow, with travel impossible at times due to fierce blizzard conditions.
Now is the time to prepare for the storm, as even for a region accustomed to heavy snow, this will be a crippling blizzard. Stay tuned.
March will roar in like a lion in California, with possibly the largest Sierra Nevada snowstorm of the winter starting around next Friday, as a cold, multi-day storm moves in.
We will be measuring snow in feet, with this storm potentially pushing the Sierra snowpack towards 100% of normal. Stay tuned. #CAwx
Tim Wakefield’s wife Stacy shared a few of Tim’s own words she found written down this past weekend.
Tim Wakefield was an amazing man. This world would be a better place if we all lived our lives like he did. Rest in peace my friend.
9/13/2011: Tim Wakefield wins the 200th game of his big league career.
It was also his final win before retiring at the end of the season.
He finished with 186 wins in a Red Sox uniform, which ranks 3rd all-time behind Roger Clemens and Cy Young.
