Foreign Minister Osman Saleh met in Cairo today his Egyptian counterpart, FM Dr. Badr Abdelatty, for extensive talks on the consolidation of the strategic and historical ties of partnership that exist between the two countries.

The two Foreign Ministers discussed in greater depth current developments in the Horn of Africa and the coordination of the respective positions of both countries on matters of mutual interest.

The Foreign Ministers recalled the meeting between the two Heads of State held in Cairo last month as well as previous exchanges of Ministerial visits between the two countries.

In this regard, Foreign Minister Osman Saleh and his Egyptian counterpart noted that conducive groundwork has indeed been accomplished to elevate the bilateral ties of friendship and cooperation to a new and higher level and thereby augment the benefits and interests of both peoples.

The two Foreign Ministers also underlined that the security and governance of the Red Sea is, in full consonance with international law, the exclusive and normative responsibility of the littoral States.

Foreign Minister Osman Saleh also met in Cairo Mr. Massad Boulos, President Trump's Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, for extensive talks on the enhancement of Eritrea-US bilateral ties as well as on broader regional matters and developments.

Eritrea to play in 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers

The Eritrean National Football Federation (ENFF) has confirmed that the national team will participate in the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Paulos Weldehaimanot Andemariam, President of ENFF confirmed to Cecafaonline during an interview on Tuesday at the Four Seasons Hotel in Rabat, Morocco.
“I can confirm that we have registered to play in the qualifiers for the 2027 AFCON and I believe we shall have a strong team because we currently have many players playing outside the African continent,” said Paulos .

- ለብልጭልጭ ፕሮጀክት የዜጎች መኖርያ ቤቶች ፈርሰዋል

ይህ ማለት:
- ህፃናት በረሀብ አለንጋ እየተጠበሱ ወደ መኝታቸው ይሄዳሉ
- እናቶች ልጄን ላብላ ወይስ መድሀኒት ልግዛ የሚል አፀያፊ ምርጫ ውስጥ ገብተዋል
- አባቶች በአባትነት ወግ ቤታቸውን የሚያስተዳድሩበት ስራ አጥተው ቤታቸው ተቀምጠዋል

Potemkin Party (PP) trolls feign annoyance, get into hysterical commotion, and disparage Eritrea's routine diplomatic activities and/or Presidential visits to some country. And they have the audacity to portray Eritrea as a "lackey and doing the bidding of" some foreign country; these days, the tantrum is on "Eritrea-Egypt" ties!

Need to remind them to swallow these dosage of reality in historical terms. Indeed:
* It is the Ethiopian regime which solicited the diplomatic and political clout of the US to suppress Eritrea's right of decolonization in the 1940s. The overwhelming historical evidence on these machinations have since long been available in the public domain.
*Ethiopian regimes relied on US and Israeli military and technical support in the first decades; and on USSR (and Allies) massive military support in the later decades in their attempts to defeat Eritrea's thirty year war of national liberation. This is yesterday's history fresh in the minds of the contemporary generation (including Gen Z) and that cannot be whimsically erased or wished away.
*Even these days, the Potemkin Party relies heavily on massive international development assistance; opaque ties of dependence on some countries; and IMF bailouts as it pursues belligerent, reckless and unlawful policies against its neighbour under the agenda of "sovereign access to the sea".

Eritrea's policy choices of self-respect and political independence are otherwise well known to merit elaboration.

#Eritrea's core development precepts and strategies are indeed crystal-clear and anchored, from the outset, on the following key pillars:
*To foster symmetric and diversified trade and investment ties of cooperation with all its prospective international partners (public and private) that are not encumbered by debilitating and structural dependency for cogent reasons of sustainability and national dignity;
*To ensure ownership of its development policies and programmes both at the formulation/design levels as well as in all their implementation phases;
*In this perspective, self-reliance is not perceived as tantamount, or equivalent to, self-sufficiency. Indeed, it presumes and is predicated on nurturing and pursuing vibrant trade and investment networks in all its sectors of comparative and competitive advantage for optimal value-addition and fair share of the revenues that are generated.
*Rich and diversified as its latent natural endowments are - blue economy; the extractive industry; strategic locational advantages etc.; the development of Human Capital occupies a central role in this holistic development matrix to ensure and guarantee both sustainability as well as operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Long perceived as #landlocked, Uganda has embraced a forward-looking, “land-linked” mindset, leveraging its natural resources and infrastructure to turn perceived constraints into engines of national development. Its extensive waterways, including the mighty Nile, combined with a network of well-connected roads, have become vital arteries for #trade, #commerce, and #connectivity, linking communities within Uganda and across the region.

The journey to the source of the #Nile, through a boat ride from Jinja, was both inspiring and instructive. Witnessing the river emerge from the Ugandan landscape, one is reminded of its profound significance, not only to Uganda but to the millions of people who depend on its waters downstream. The Nile is more than a river; it is a lifeline that sustains agriculture, energy production, and livelihoods across multiple nations. The only time it used Eritrean ports was during its illegal #occupation of Eritrea - an occupation rejected by the Eritrean people and defeated through a 30-year protracted struggle for #independence. Eritrea’s #sovereignty and territorial integrity was achieved through enormous sacrifice and is not subject for any negotiation or revision. Any attempt by Ethiopia’s current PP leadership to lay claim to Eritrean land or ports like Assab or any other place for that matter, is not only historically false but also an open violation of international law and the 1963 OAU principle that upholds colonial boundaries. Such reckless rhetoric serves only to destabilize the region and expose the aggressor nature of those who utter it. Eritrea’s sovereignty is not a topic for debate; it is a settled and irreversible reality.

In more broader terms, the utility/validity of these unsolicited, intrusive, and condescending annual "bill of health certificates" is tenuous as they are mostly a relic of old times. Hopefully, these redundant branches will be duly overhauled by the Trump Administration.

Senior Sudanese delegation led by Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris has arrived in Asmara today for a two-day working visit.

The delegation includes Foreign Minister Ambassador MohiEl-Din Salem; the Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism, Khalid Ali Aleisir; as well as other officials.

The delegation was accorded warm welcome by Foreign Minister Osman Saleh on their arrival at Asmara's International Airport.

Prime Minister Dr. Kamil and his delegation are scheduled to meet President Isaias Afwerki to discuss enhancement of bilateral issues, developments in the conflict in the Sudan, and other important matters of mutual interest.
